Anatoliy L. Uss

Anatoliy L. Uss is a Doctor of Medical Science, professor, Chief Hematologist of the Republic of Belarus, Head of the Republican Center of Hematology and Bone Marrow Transplantation.

Dr. Uss was born in 1957 in Minsk.

In 1983 Dr. Uss graduated from the Department of General Science of the Minsk Medical Institute.

In 1983-1989 Dr. Uss worked as a doctor, Head of the Hematology Department at the Mogilev Regional Hospital. Since 1989 he has been a hematologist at the Minsk Clinical Hospital # 9. In 1991 he became the head of the Bone Marrow Transplantation Department. In 1993 he was appointed the Deputy Chief Doctor of the same hospital. The Ministry of Health of Belarus has put Dr. Uss in charge of the Republican Center of Hematology and Bone Marrow Transplantation.

In 1996 Dr. Uss received a PhD in oncology. In January of 1998 he was certified as a therapist of the highest qualification.

In 2000 Dr. Uss defended his Doctor of Medical Science dissertation. In December of 2000 he was elected the Head of the Department of Hematology and Transfusiology with Course of Pediatric Hematology at the Belarusian Medical Academy of Postgraduate Education. Dr. Uss has further developed his skills and knowledge in hematology, therapy and healthcare management at the Russian Medical Academy of Postgraduate Education and Belarusian Medical Academy of Postgraduate Education.

Dr. Uss participates in scientific conferences, gives presentations and lectures in the CIS, Europe and the US. He has completed training on research management, hematology and bone marrow transplantation at universities in Hannover, Germany, and London, UK.

He authored 180 publications, 6 guidelines, treatment standards (protocols) for hematopoiesis pathologies, a chapter in a monograph Radiation Injury and the Chernobyl Catastrophe, a monograph Transplantation of Autologous Stem Cells in Clinical Practice, holds 2 patents. Dr. Uss is an expert at the CIS Executive Commission on Hematopoietic Cell Transplantation, a member of the European Society for Blood and Marrow Transplantation, the International Society for Experimental Hematology.
