Dr. Parovichnikova has been working at the Scientific Center for Hematology since 1990. In 1992 she became a staff researcher at the Department of Hemoblastosis Chemotherapy and Bone Marrow Transplantation, in 2002 she became a group leader, and since May of 2011 she heads the Department of Hemoblastosis Chemotherapy, Hemotopoietic Depression and Bone Marrow Transplantation.

Dr. Parovichnikova defended her PhD thesis Acute Myeloid Leukemias in Patients in elderly in 1992, her Doctor of Science dissertation New Treatment Programs for Acute Leukemias in 2003.

Dr. Parovichnikova has published about 300 scientific articles. She is a co-author of two books, author of 36 chapters in 8 guidelines, co-author of the Russian national guidelines on treatment of acute myeloid leukemias, acute promyelocytic leukemias, myelodysplastic syndromes; co-author of three patents, supervisor of 5 PhD dissertations.

In 2006 the Russian Academy of Medical Sciences awarded her the Certificate of Merit. In 2011 she received the “Excellence in Healthcare” chest badge.

Dr. Parovichnikova is a famous Russian scientist known worldwide. She is a leading specialist in clinical and experimental hematology and transplantation of hematopoietic cells. Dr. Parovichnikova coordinates the Russian Research Group of Hematology Centers, heads the Russian Research Group on Treatment of Acute Leukemias, is a member of editorial boards of scientific journals Problems of Hematology and Blood Transfusion and Therapeutic Archive, chairwoman of the Clinical and Experimental Hematology task group at the Scientific Center for Hematology, member of the Supervisory Board of the Russian National Hematological Society.

Dr. Parovichnikova’s scientific work is multifaceted: her scientific interests include not only acute leukemias, but also myelodysplastic syndromes, malignant lymphomas, allogenic bone marrow transplantation, intensive care of emergency conditions in hematology.

Dr. Parovichnikova initiated and for 25 years coordinated a unique for Russia multicenter trial for treatment of acute leukemias. The trial included more than 30 hematological centers in 20 Russian cities and delivered treatment to three thousand patients. Under Dr. Parovichnikova’s direction The Russian Research Group of Hematology Centers completed 6 multicenter randomized clinical trials for treatment of acute myeloid leukemias, 2 multicenter randomized trials and 5 pilot trials for treatment of acute promyelocytic leukemias, 7 pilot and 2 multicenter trials for treatment of acute lymphoblastic leukemias.

Apart from coordination and clinical practice, Dr. Parovichnikova supervises research on basic biological principles of clone behavior during chemotherapy: monitoring of minimal residual disease (MRD) in all types of acute leukemias at necessary control time points, determination of new ways to influence MRD, analysis of T-cell subpopulations controlling MRD, evaluation of tumor clone clearance in relation to molecular characteristics of leukemic cells with the goal of developing new effective target interventions.

In recent years Dr. Parovichnikova’s scientific research is closely related to development of new approaches to allogenic bone marrow transplantation.

Alongside her scientific work Dr. Parovichnikova teaches and participates in social work, gives lectures to PhD students, residents, and trainees.
